SUMMARY OF THE LAND USE ACT IN NIGERIA

The Land Use Decree (now Land Use Act) was promulgated on 29th of March 1978 following the recommendations of a minority report of a panel appointed by the Federal Military Government of the time to advice on future land policy. With immediate effect, it vested all land in each state of the Federation in the governor of that state (Fed. Rep. of Nigeria, 1978).

Scores of Civil Right Activists based in Bayelsa State led by the Leadership of the Civil Liberties Organisation yesterday called on State and National Assembly members to initiate a proper legislation that will protect the motherless Babies from being dumped in fake homes and illegal adoptions.
