President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday pledged to collaborate with Gov. Seriake Dickson to develop Bayelsa if re-elected.
Jonathan made the pledge during Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential election campaign at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Ovom, Yenagoa.
The President said he had enjoyed massive support from Bayelsa people since his adventure into politics in 1999 and would reciprocate the gesture by ensuring even development of the state.
He urged the people to support the state governor who is working with the federal government on several development projects.
Earlier, First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, recalled that the President Jonathan started his women friendly posture during his
days as Deputy Governor and Governor of the state when he empowered thousands of women across Bayelsa.
She expressed appreciation to the people for the warm reception accorded the President and his entourage and said that Jonathan’s re-election would further elevate the status of women.
National Chairman of PDP, Adamu Muazu, Senate President David Mark and Director General PDP Presdidential Campaign Council Dr Ahmadu Alli said that they were in Bayelsa to thank the people.
They said that the state deserved appreciation for giving Jonathan to the nation.
“We commend you because Jonathan has provided effective leadership for the countr. We urge you to sustain the support.’’
In his Remarks, Dickson said the rally was a homecoming for the President who had the support of his kinsmen and
had no need to campaign in the state.
Also, Vice President Namadi Sambo urged the people to collect their permanent voter cards to enable them to express their support for the president in the Feb.14 polls.
