The leadership crisis rocking the Bayelsa Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) worsened yesterday when policemen from the Bayelsa State Police command sealed off the state secretariat.
source gathered that the action of the police was to prevent the state party Chairman, Col Samuel Inokoba (retd) from having access to his office.
Members of the State Executive Committee of the party in the state had suspended Inokoba over allegation of diverting campaign funds meant for the presidential campaign in Yenagoa.
The Presidency and the national leadership of the party had upturned the suspension, as it recognised him as the chairman in all its meetings held with party stakeholders across the country.
Workers were shocked yesterday at the increased police presence at the secretariat as they were screened by armed policemen before gaining entrance into the complex.
Some of the policemen explained that they were under directive not to allow anybody access to the secretariat except staff.
The state Publicity Secretary of PDP, Barr. Osom Mackbere, who confirmed the increased presence of policemen, simply said, “all is well. We are okay and no cause for alarm.”
