The Executive Director

Royal Chief Nengi James is a community leader, philanthropist, humanitarian, Civil Rights Advocate and Social Crusader. 

He is the founder and Executive Director of Nengi James Foundation, a Non-Governmental organization (officially registered with Corporate Affairs Commission) dedicated to Philanthropy, Innovation and Charity Works.


A graduate of Public Administration of the University of Port Harcourt, Nengi James has contributed commentaries and articles on Local and National issues of Public Interest on both Local and National Media. His areas of interest include Environment, Human Capacity Building, Development and Human rights. He has worked as a correspondent to both the electronic and print media.


As a custodian of the culture and traditions of the Nembe, Ijaw cum Niger Delta people, he takes after his Late Father Chief Eriworio Full James Gam-Dede who was an oral traditional historian and custodian of the native culture and custom of the Nembe people.  

He is a contributor to books like ‘Oil violence: the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the Niger Delta, Oil, Democracy, and The Promise of True Federalism in Nigeria and a Co-author of the book named Kule among others. Chief Nengi James is a member of many socio-cultural organizations which include Nembe Council of Chiefs, Nembe Se Congress among others. 


He belongs to numerous professional bodies like the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), Nigeria Gas Association, Institute of Chattered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Society for Peace Studies and Practices (SPSP), member, National Think Tank Group among others.


As a God fearing man, Nengi James believes in the principle of life for all irrespective of tribe, class or religion. Presently he is the Chairman, Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Bayelsa state.

2.Played a vital role in the sitting up of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Mega Filling Station in Bayelsa State during President Olusegun Obasanjo Interactive Forum held in Bayelsa State.

3.Assisted and sponsored the Rescue Mission of M.V King Koko George boat mishap at nautical miles 65 along Port Harcourt – Nembe Sea route on the 1st of April, 1999.

4.Among Eminent South-South Leaders nominated to re-draft the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) bill under South-South People’s Conference (SSOPEC) for the establishment of the NDDC.

5.Involved in presentation of several Memoranda to the National Assembly on National Issues concerning the interest of Niger Delta and indeed Nigerians

6.Advocate of Human, Developmental and Environmental Rights.
